Carl's Jr. One Star Swap Campaign – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to the Carl's Jr. One Star Swap Promotion

("Promotion"). Participation in the Promotion constitutes acceptance of these Terms

and Conditions.

PROMOTION

1. Promoter

The Promoter is Restaurant Brands Limited of 666 Great South Road, Greenlane,

Auckland 1061, New Zealand ("Promoter"). Entries must not be sent to the Promoter's

physical address.

2. Promotion Period

The Promotion commences at 12:01am NZST on Thursday 24 September 2026 and

closes at 11:59pm NZST on Thursday 15 October 2026 ("Promotion Period").
 

3. Eligibility

a) The Promotion is open to New Zealand residents aged 18 years and over.

b) Employees of the Promoter and any agency involved with this Promotion, and the

immediate families of such employees, are not eligible to enter.
 

4. Eligible Reviews

a) A valid entry must consist of a genuine one-star review personally written and

submitted by the entrant, from an account controlled by the entrant relating to a burger

restaurant operating in New Zealand. The entrant must provide sufficient information to

enable the Promoter to verify the review and the entrant’s authorship of it. Entrants

must not create, edit, republish or reduce the rating of a review for the purpose of

participating in the Promotion. The Promoter may reject an entry where it reasonably

believes the review was created or altered in anticipation of, or in response to, the

Promotion. This also applies to any previous Carl’s Jr. one-star review. 
 

b) Reviews must have been published on Google Reviews or TripAdvisor on or before 21

September 2026. This Promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or

associated with Google or TripAdvisor, and entrants must comply with the applicable

platform terms.
 

c) Carl's Jr. does not encourage or incentivise the creation, alteration or removal of

reviews, or the submission of false, misleading, or dishonest reviews. Only genuine

reviews submitted before the Promotion commencement date, without the knowledge

of or in response to the Promotion, are eligible.
 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

5. Entry Mechanic

a) During the Promotion Period, entrants must visit 1starswapper.co.nz and submit the

entry form, provide their email address, upload a clear screenshot of an eligible review

showing the review text, star rating, publication date and reviewed account name, and

confirm by ticking the relevant box that they are 18 years of age or older and eligible to

enter the Promotion, and provide any other information reasonably requested by the

Promoter for verification purposes.
 

6. Verification

a) All submissions are subject to verification by the Promoter.

b) The Promoter may, acting reasonably, reject any entry that:

• Cannot be verified;

• Appears altered, manipulated, fraudulent, misleading or incomplete;

• Contains offensive, unlawful, defamatory or inappropriate content; or

• Does not otherwise comply with these Terms and Conditions.

c) Subject to applicable law, the Promoter's determination regarding the validity of any

submission is final.

d) Entries submitted using multiple identities, accounts or email addresses, or as part

of any coordinated effort to circumvent the entry limits, may be deemed invalid. 

7. Promotional Code

a) Upon successful verification, entrants will receive one (1) unique promotional code

via the email address supplied during entry.
 

b) Limit one (1) promotional code per person.

c) Each promotional code may only be redeemed once.

d) Promotional codes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

Expired promotional codes will not be accepted, refunded, replaced or otherwise

compensated after the date in which it expires.

e) Limit one (1) verified entry, one (1) promotional code and one (1) prize draw entry per

person.

FREE BURGER REDEMPTION

8. Free Burger Offer

a) A verified entrant is entitled to redeem one (1) free Famous Star® Chargrilled Beef

burger using their promotional code.

b) Promotional codes may only be redeemed:

• At participating Carl's Jr. restaurants in New Zealand via the self-service kiosks

in-store; or

• Through the Carl's Jr. New Zealand website.

c) Promotional codes cannot be redeemed via third-party delivery platforms. Promotion

codes cannot be redeemed at drive-thru or over-the-counter ordering. 

d) The offer applies to the Famous Star® Chargrilled Beef burger only and excludes meal

& size upgrades, add-ons, modifiers and any additional purchases.

e) For the avoidance of doubt, Carl’s Jr. restaurants that are temporarily or permanently

closed, or that do not offer the applicable redemption channel, are not considered

participating stores and entrants are not entitled to alternative compensation if they

cannot redeem any prize or reward because there is no participating store in their area.

f) Redemption is subject to product availability, restaurant trading hours and the

availability and proper operation of the relevant ordering channel. If a Famous Star®

Chargrilled Beef burger is unavailable at a participating restaurant, the Promoter may

offer a reasonably comparable substitute of equal value.

WIN FREE CARL'S JR. FOR A YEAR

9. Prize Draw

a) Each verified entry will automatically receive one (1) entry into the prize draw.

b) Entries close at 11:59pm NZST on Thursday 15 October 2026.

c) One (1) winner will be randomly drawn from all valid entries on Thursday 15 October

2026.

d) The winner will be contacted using the contact details supplied at the time of entry

between 16 and 23 October 2026.

e) Subject to successful verification and acceptance of the prize, the winner’s name and

region may be publicly announced from 19 October 2026. By accepting the prize, the

winner consents to that announcement. 

f) If the winner cannot be contacted, is unable to be verified, or does not claim the prize

within the timeframe specified by the Promoter, a redraw may take place on Wednesday

21 October 2026.
 

g) The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

h) References in campaign advertising to "The Ultimate Star", "Hat Winner", "Wear it

while ordering", or similar promotional statements are campaign creative concepts only

and do not create any obligation for the winner to wear, display or use the Ultimate Star

hat in order to receive or redeem any part of the prize.

10. Prize

a) The prize consists of:

i. Fifty-two (52) Carl's Jr. vouchers, each with a maximum value of $27 NZD. The $27

value is based on the Promoter's average customer transaction value (average ticket

value) and is intended to represent one voucher per week for a period of fifty-two (52)

weeks; and

ii. One (1) Carl's Jr. "Ultimate Star" hat.
 

b) The total maximum prize value is $1,404 NZD.

c) The "Ultimate Star" hat is provided as a promotional item only.

d) The winner is not required to wear, display, or use the "Ultimate Star" hat in order to

receive, claim, retain, or redeem any portion of the prize.

e) Receipt, use, loss, damage, or non-use of the "Ultimate Star" hat will not affect the

winner's entitlement to the meal vouchers or any other component of the prize.

f) The prize is not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.

g) Meal vouchers will be distributed in a manner determined by the Promoter, which

may include physical vouchers, digital vouchers, unique code(s) or another redemption

mechanism.

h) Each voucher entitles the winner to redeem up to $27 towards any Carl's Jr. menu

purchase and must be redeemed in accordance with the conditions stated on or

supplied with the voucher. No change or credit will be given where the value redeemed

is less than $27. Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer unless the

Promoter expressly permits it, and lost, stolen or expired vouchers will not be replaced

except where required by law.

GENERAL

11. Fraud and Disqualification

The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and disqualify any entrant

who:

• Tampers with the entry process;

• Submits misleading or fraudulent information;

• Uses automated means to enter; or

• Breaches these Terms and Conditions.

12. Privacy

a) By entering the Promotion, entrants consent to the collection and use of their

personal information by the Promoter for the purposes of:

• administering and operating the Promotion;

• verifying eligibility and entry validity;

• issuing promotional codes;

• contacting entrants regarding their entry;

• administering the prize draw; and

• contacting the winner of the prize draw.

b) As part of the entry process, entrants will be required to provide their name, email

address, date of birth and an eligible review submission.

c) The Promoter may use an entrant's date of birth solely for the purpose of verifying that

the entrant is aged 18 years or over and eligible to participate in the Promotion.

d) Personal information collected as part of the Promotion will be handled in

accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Promoter's Privacy Policy.

e) Entrants may elect to receive marketing and promotional communications from

Carl's Jr. by selecting the relevant consent checkbox during the entry process. Consent

to receive marketing communications is voluntary and is not required to participate in

the Promotion or receive any promotional reward.

f) Failure to provide requested information may result in an entry being deemed invalid

or ineligible.

g) By using 1starswapper.co.nz, you will be deemed to agree to the Privacy Policy which

can be found on the Carl’s Jr. website. If you do not agree to be bound by the Privacy

Policy, you must stop participating in the Promotion and accessing 1starswapper.co.nz

immediately. 

13. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss,

damage or injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Promotion, including any

technical malfunction, lost submission, delayed email, or inability to redeem a

promotional code.

14. Amendment or Cancellation

The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the Promotion at any time,

subject to applicable law.

15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand and participants

submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
